iPhone Apps Not Compatible with iOS 11
It was warned early on before the release of iOS 11 that Apple will no longer support 32-bit apps. The warnings were given beforehand after Apple introduced a 64-bit processor with iPhone 5s in the year 2013.
In the month of January 2017, users were notified with a warning that their phone would not support 32-bit apps after the release of iOS 11. Some of the app in June were already removed from the app store. However, they were still available if any user had the direct download link.
The iPhone 5s has been available for approximately three years and a majority of apps are compatible with 64-bit processors, which means Apple will not support approximately 200,000 apps from September onwards.
It is impossible to list down all the apps that will no longer be supported, still, Business Insider and Sensor Tower have noticed a bunch of apps to be 32-bit including YouTube Capture, iSpadez, Neo Nactaris and Infinity Blade.
Implication of iOS for Marketers
Apple has planned the process of throwing out 32-bit applications without creating a fuss for end users with the move. However, the developers need to ensure that all apps are upgraded to 64-bit. The biggest problem is that if you are having multiple apps on the app store supporting 32-bit, you can’t afford to have a big crackdown. Either you have to develop a new app from scratch or update it to meet the requirements. However, there is a much difference in the cost of developing an app from scratch or updating an app.
