Microsoft has been working for a while on bringing the best of Windows 10 to Android and iOS. The effort has proved to be a great breakthrough as Microsoft Launcher and Edge has gained millions of downloads on both iOS and Android. Later in 2018, users can switch from a Windows phone to an Android device, and continue using Microsoft software and services.
However, there are plenty of apps missing and one of them is Movies and TV. The app is only available on Windows-based platforms including Windows 10 mobile, Xbox and Windows 10 PC. For movie addicts with a huge collection of Microsoft store, lack of Android or iOS is unfortunate. Moreover, it would be quite disappointing for the potential customer looking to buy new TV content or movies. However, according to some sources, Microsoft is working on introducing Microsoft Movies and TV apps for Android and iOS.
Microsoft is developing these apps in order to attract consumers and force them to buy content on the Microsoft Store. The majority of people use Netflix to stream content. However, a lot of content is still not available to stream. On the other hand, people buy TV content and digital movies while they ignore the Microsoft store where there is a huge collection because of non-availability of mobile companion apps for their phone.
These apps must abate the barrier for the people and set Microsoft’s vow to its digital offerings on the store. In 2017, Microsoft decimated its music streaming service, raising further questions about the Movies and TV service to continue or die. Microsoft says it will continue to remain committed to TV and movies
Microsoft is looking forward to joining the Movies Anywhere Program soon. A program allows users to watch content purchased from various supported digital stores whenever and wherever you want. For instance, if someone has purchased a movie from iTunes, Movies Anywhere can play the same movie on Google Play. It is because of both Android and Google support Movies Anywhere. The service is quite popular among people and that is why Microsoft is working to rejoin the program.
As for the release date is concerned about all these apps, do not expect them soon. The work is already in progress and the apps will show up once they are ready.
