When it comes to mobile gaming, many people don’t realise just how big a thing it truly is. But think about it—how many titles have you yourself played? From Candy Crush to Angry Birds, many of us have downloaded the hottest games to our mobiles and played with friends and family. The recent gaming statistics showing that people of all ages find interest in gaming nowadays.
So it makes sense that mobile gaming is by far the most popular choice for many gamers, both casual and hardcore, all over the world. And it has managed to eclipse other gaming platforms by far—with over 150,000 new titles released on mobiles in 2017 alone, that massively overtakes the less than 4,000 releases on PC and consoles combined.
And, perhaps unsurprisingly, mobile gaming generates much more revenue, too. Whether that’s for Tft boosts or mods in Minecraft, both create a steady income source for the sector. As mobile gaming generated near to $50 billion just last year, with statistics showing that number rising year upon year, the revenue generated upon consoles and PC titles is beginning to plateau. That’s despite releases such as Fortnite being free-to-play, yet encouraging players to purchase add-ons.
These statistics are perhaps surprising and definitely intriguing, and Mr. Gamez’s infographic dives deep into the world of mobile gaming, looking at its unprecedented growth and attempting to predict what’s next for the platform.
