The biggest tech show of the year, “Consumer Electronics Show” is all set to kick off in Las Vegas today. Everyone is super excited to know what’s next in technology. With more than 3,900 exhibitors, CES is a place to find the biggest and the brightest announcements from the technology giants.
Some of the technology geeks aren’t patient enough to wait. Finding the way to get in contact with some wizard to know what’s in it for them before the show starts.
If you are also one of those impatiently waiting to know what to expect in CES 2018, this article offers a summary of available public information.
1. Voice Assistants Becoming Mainstream
Voice assistants gained popularity in the CES last year, and not to dump the fact that it’s going to be the hot topic of the show. From cars to microwaves, they will show up in almost everything. Companies like Google, Microsoft and Amazon will strike up partnerships with the third party. YouTube Red and Amazon Prime will play a huge impact in driving revenues for these companies.
In the CES 2018, we’re going to clearly have established that voice is going to be the go-to user interface,” said Steve Koenig, senior director of market research for the Consumer Technology Association.
No matter, what we are doing, there will be some sort of digital assistant at our side to help us.
2. Smart Cities & Homes
According to estimates by UN, in 2030, almost 60% of the population will live in urban areas. CES is going to focus on smart city technology in 2018. Smart city project is going to be the key focus with representatives from cities around the world, seeking for the ways to withstand the growing population.
The United States is mainly focusing on transportation while Europe is prone to serious issues like energy preservation. In the future, home automation gadgets, connected hive monitor, and electric bikes will be accessible to consumers.
3. AR /VR/MR
Augmented Reality will largely be seen onto handheld devices, far greater than it’s seen today. After the release of Pokemon Go as part of AR technology, it would be further introduced in areas like an advertisement, navigation, design and much more to overlay digital information in real time imaginings on the screen.
Developer kits on Android and iOS will help software engineers to integrate AR capabilities in the apps. This would prevent users from stumbling and falling on the sidewalk or bump into traffic, as everyone will be looking head up.
4. Robots and AI Products
Robots have always been a hot topic on the CES show floor. However, they are considered more as a novelty instead of real product. Presently, AI, advanced sensors and voice interfaces helped robots to inch closer to becoming handy. For instance, the mobile service robot can handle deliveries and other easy-to-do tasks.
Companion robots were also very popular but largely replaced by smart assistants, which were better at communicating and anticipating needs. Hence, they can be a perfect fit for being a robot.
5. Driverless Cars
CES is not any car event that displays luxury and highly lavished cars on the show. However, the latest trend in technology has shifted the cars into a technology-packed transport without the need of a driver. Self-driving cars are the talk of the town, but the introduction of 5G networks will also impact driving which includes things like low latency mobile broadband in the car.
Final Words
With the much-hyped CES 2018, technology geeks are looking for gadgets that can make the lives of people better both commercially and personally. We hope that 2018 will be highly driven by these technological innovations – just stay tuned for today’s CES show.
